Celebrate Fantagraphics Bookstore’s 11th Anniversary with Charles Forsman, Dame Darcy & Frank Young!

Time flies when you’re having fun! Join us at Fantagraphics Bookstore to celebrate our 11th anniversary with an evening of comix, music and more on Saturday, December 9 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The festivities include guest appearances by Charles Forsman, Dame Darcy and Frank Young, as well as an exhibition of prints by Charles Burns and Jaime Hernandez from their recently released Fantagraphics Studio Editions.

Charles Forsman returns to the bookstore to sign copies of his new graphic novel, I Am Not Okay with This. The book continues the cartoonist’s examination of adolescent alienation with his signature deadpan delivery. He’ll also show a clip from the forthcoming Netflix series, The End of the Fucking World, based on his previous graphic novel of the same name, recently reissued by Fantagraphics Books.

Multifaceted artist Dame Darcy will perform a set of enchanting music and read from her hilarious upcoming memoir. She’ll also sign copies of the Meat Cake Bible anthology. Writer Frank Young presents To Laugh That We May Not Weep, a comprehensive collection of early 20th century political cartoonist and activist Art Young. With essays by Art Spiegleman, Justin Green, and Glenn Bray, the book documents the life and times of this important, but often-overlooked artist.

The anniversary exhibition features prints from the new Fantagraphics Studio Editions by Charles Burns and Jaime Hernandez. The Burns book focuses on art from his classic, Seattle-based graphic novel Black Hole; the Hernandez edition collects art from many of his most critically acclaimed works. Prior commitments prevent the two artists from attending, but both will appear in Seattle in the coming year.

This event coincides with the festive holiday edition of the Georgetown Art Attack featuring lively visual and performing arts presentations throughout the historic district. Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery is located at 1201 S. Vale Street, just minutes south of downtown Seattle. Open daily 11:30 to 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone 206-557-4910.
