Ali Fitzgerald’s students are among the record-breaking number of people who are seeking asylum in Berlin, fleeing from countries such as Syria and Afghanistan. Her comics are compassionate and unflinchingly intimate, as the fantasy of her bohemia crumbles in a globalized city. Entwining political and personal displacement, Fitzgerald’s graphic memoir, Drawn to Berlin, is about loss, community, and the drawings that bind us.
Please join us to launch this amazing memoir on Saturday, November 17th at the Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery, located at 1201 S. Vale Street in the heart of Seattle’s historic Georgetown art community.
The event is co-sponsored by the Goethe Institut.
