Seattle, WA: Gina Siciliano at SAM Gallery Talk
November 21 @ 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm PST
My Favorite Things tours bring some of the most fascinating artists, cultural producers, and community figures into the galleries to discuss their favorite (or least favorite) works of art. This week’s tour will be led by Gina Siciliano on Thursday, November 21st from 6:30-7 PM.
In September 2019, Gina Siciliano released her debut graphic novel, I Know What I Am, depicting the life of the female painter, Artemisia Gentileschi. The result of years of research exploring Gentileschi’s life story, I Know What I Am paints a complex, feminist portrait of Artemisia as a single mother, a survivor of sexual assault, and a pioneering practitioner of her craft.
Artemisia Gentileschi’s famous painting, Judith and Holofernes is currently on view in Flesh and Blood. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to view this and other renowned works of the High Renaissance and Baroque periods from the Capodimonte Museum in Naples. The exhibition reveals the many ways the human body can express love and devotion, physical labor, and tragic suffering.
Free with gallery admission. Fourth floor galleries.
