June 17-19th, Charlotte. NC is once again home to one of the oldest and most beloved comic conventions in the country, HeroesCon. Billing themselves as a “America’s favorite convention since 1982, family friendly, laid-back, comics-oriented atmosphere; go ahead, ask anyone” we’ll take their word for it, and the word of hundreds of artists who’ve traveled to the South-Eastern city to have a good time with fans and friends.
Perfectly bridging the gap between mainstream and indie, HeroesCon curates not only the main hall, but also a wonderful Indie Island that this year features Fantagraphics artists Charles Forsman, Rich Tommaso, and Ed Piskor. Joining them in Indie Island are some of our favorite cartoonists like Alexis Ziritt, Jim Rugg, Michel Fiffe, and many others.
On the main floor is the duck master himself, Don Rosa! Boasting a staggering body of work, the 4th volume in the Don Rosa library, The Last of the Clan McDuck, is a treasure trove of wonderfully recolored stories that would make Scrooge jealous.
