Before authoring one of the most beloved children’s book series of all time — Harold and the Purple Crayon — cartoonist Crockett Johnson penned the comic strip Barnaby for over ten years. Following the fantastical adventures of 5-year-old Barnaby Baxter and his fairy godfather Jackeen J. O’Malley, Barnaby deftly balanced timeless humor and elegant cartooning to delight readers of all ages. Art directed by graphic novelist Daniel Clowes (Ghost World), this five-volume series collects the entirety of the comic strip’s original newspaper run from 1942–1952.
