The 5th annual HOT OFF THE PRESS BOOK FAIR at Fantagraphics Bookstore features a stellar line-up of local, national, and international artists including Berlin graphic novelist Ulli Lust, Minneapolis musician and cartoonist Zak Sally, Atlanta’s Joshua Ray Stephens, Peter Hoey of Coin-Op Books, Kelly Froh and co. of Short Run Micropress, Marc Palm, Cold Cube, Max Clotfelter, David Lasky, Hair Flip Comix, Megan Kelso, Woody, Tatiana Gil, Jae Bearhat, Rory Frances, D. W., Fogland Studios, Jason T. Miles, Brandon Lehmann, Patrick Moriarity, Reed Olsen, Tom Van Deusen, and many more. Festivities run from 5:00 to 9:00 PM on Saturday, July 13. An exhibition of drawings and prints by featured artists remains on view through September 9.
Award-winning artist Ulli Lust will debut her new graphic memoir How I Tried to Be a Good Person. Zak Sally, formerly of Low, will perform a set of new music. Kelly Froh will debut her long-awaited full-length graphic novel Walking Uphill. Peter Hoey and Marc Palm, each nominated for a prestigious Eisner Award in the Short Story category, will appear ahead of the awards ceremony the following week at San Diego Comicon. David Lasky will preview his graphic novel based on the historic Georgetown Steamplant, the first such project funding by the City of Seattle. The book fair will feature a colorful array of hand-crafted books, prints and related works.
This event coincides with the lively Georgetown Art Attack featuring contemporary visual and performing arts presentations throughout the historic neighborhood.
