What’s in Store: Short Run Marathon, Music, and More!

Hope you can join us at Fantagraphics Bookstore for the 9th annual Short Run Marathon art show and pre-festival party this Friday, November 8 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The exhibition features original works from an amazing array of emerging and established international artists including Glynnis Fawkes, Marc Bell, Jasjyot Singh Hans, Malaka Gharib, Krusty Wheatfield, Seattle Walk Report, Abraham Díaz, Tommi Parrish, Jamilya Lowe, Mike Centeno, Chloë Perkis, and Rumi Hara. It’s always a festive start to the Short Run and a great opportunity to socialize with Short Run exhibitors.

On Sunday, May 10 at 6:00 PM we’ll host a special free concert by cartoonist/musicians Danielle De Picciotto from Berlin (formerly of Crime & the City Solution) and Zak Sally from Minneapolis (formerly of Low.) The concert will be followed by a book signing with Danielle and Zak, joined by Portland artist Chris Cilla debuting his new book The Sleep Gas. On Monday, November 11 at 6:00 PM Danielle will appear in conversation with musician Lori Goldston (former Nirvana/Earth) at the Goethe Pop Up on Capitol Hill.  Don’t miss these fascinating artists discussing the state of experimental music in Europe, the US, and elsewhere.

Later in November we’ll present music, readings, and book signings by Danny Bland, Dave Alvin, Ian Moore, Victor Krummenacher, Anya Davidson, and Max Clotfelter. Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery is located at 1201 S. Vale Street in the heart of Seattle’s Georgetown arts community. Open daily 11:30 to 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone 206-557-4910.
